Codara acts as a data processor on behalf of NHS trusts and other healthcare
providers. We process confidential patient information solely to support the
direct care of individual patients — assisting clinicians in documenting
clinical procedures and generating structured operative notes that are
returned to the trust's clinical record system.

We do not use confidential patient information for any secondary purpose such
as planning or analysis. Where patient data is used for research, it is fully
anonymised in accordance with ICO standards prior to use — at which point it
is no longer confidential patient information and is not subject to the
National Data Opt-out. Should we ever intend to use confidential patient
information for a secondary purpose, we will assess the National Data Opt-out
implications and implement appropriate controls before doing so.
