Blue Sky Medic Ltd is committed to supporting the appropriate use and protection of confidential patient information in accordance with applicable UK data protection legislation and the NHS National Data Opt-out policy.
Codara is provided to NHS trusts and healthcare organisations as a software platform supporting direct patient care, clinical documentation, operational management, audit, and service improvement activities. Blue Sky Medic Ltd acts primarily as a data processor on behalf of the relevant healthcare organisation acting as data controller.
The platform may support authorised users in reviewing and analysing operational, clinical, coding, and service data within their organisation in accordance with locally approved governance processes and access controls.
Codara may also facilitate controller-authorised secondary uses of data, including:
- clinical audit and national audit submissions;
- operational and service planning;
- approved research activity;
- reporting and quality improvement initiatives.
Where authorised by the data controller, users of the platform may export data for approved audit, research, planning, or reporting purposes.
Responsibility for determining the lawful basis for such processing, including applicability of the NHS National Data Opt-out, remains with the relevant healthcare organisation acting as data controller.
Blue Sky Medic Ltd does not independently disclose confidential patient information to third parties and does not use confidential patient information for unrelated commercial purposes.
Where data has been anonymised in accordance with applicable ICO guidance such that individuals are no longer identifiable, the resulting information is no longer considered confidential patient information and is not subject to the NHS National Data Opt-out.
