Our commitment
Blue Sky Medic Ltd (trading as Codara) is committed to delivering social value through the way we operate our business and support NHS and other public-sector customers.
This policy sets out our approach to economic value, equality, wellbeing, ethical business conduct, and responsible stewardship of healthcare information. Our environmental and sustainability commitments are covered separately within our Environmental Policy.
This policy aligns with the principles of the Public Services (Social Value) Act 2012 and relevant UK Government social value procurement guidance. For individual procurements, more detailed and measurable commitments may be provided on a contract-specific basis where required.
Tackling economic inequality
- Blue Sky Medic Ltd is a UK-registered SME operating within the United Kingdom.
- Where reasonably practicable, we seek to work with UK SMEs and specialist suppliers within our own supply chain.
- Our platform supports NHS operational efficiency by improving the structure, consistency, and quality of clinical coding and related healthcare data workflows.
- More accurate and consistent clinical coding can support appropriate reimbursement, reduce avoidable rework, and improve operational efficiency within healthcare organisations.
Equal opportunity and inclusion
- Blue Sky Medic Ltd is committed to operating in accordance with the Equality Act 2010.
- We do not discriminate on the basis of any protected characteristic, including age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, sex, or sexual orientation.
- We support NHS customers in meeting their Public Sector Equality Duty obligations by operating in a manner consistent with equality, fairness, and inclusion principles.
- We aim to consider accessibility and inclusive design principles within ongoing platform development and service improvement activities.
Wellbeing
- We support flexible and remote-first working practices that promote wellbeing, sustainability, and healthy working arrangements.
- We recognise the importance of maintaining supportive, respectful, and collaborative working relationships with customers, suppliers, and partners.
Responsible data stewardship
Blue Sky Medic Ltd recognises that responsible handling of healthcare information forms part of delivering wider social value to patients, healthcare organisations, and the public.
We are committed to maintaining appropriate standards of:
- information governance;
- confidentiality;
- cyber security;
- data protection;
- operational resilience;
- responsible access control and auditability.
We seek to support NHS organisations in maintaining trust, security, and integrity in the handling of healthcare information.
Ethical business conduct
The following commitments support our wider social value approach and are commonly required within NHS and public-sector procurement processes:
Bribery and corruption
Blue Sky Medic Ltd complies with the Bribery Act 2010. We do not offer, request, or accept bribes, facilitation payments, or inappropriate gifts or hospitality.
Modern slavery
Blue Sky Medic Ltd is committed to preventing modern slavery and human trafficking within our operations and supply chain. Although we are below the statutory threshold for a published statement under the Modern Slavery Act 2015, we voluntarily apply equivalent principles.
Counter fraud
We cooperate fully with NHS counter-fraud requirements, customer governance processes, and lawful audit requests.
Conflicts of interest
Any relevant conflicts of interest relating to customer engagements, procurement activity, or supplier relationships are expected to be declared and appropriately managed.
